The ranking in question, which counts the top six most consumed dishes in the world, has been deduced from numerous studies carried out by different researchers. However, if a ranking were made for each country, obviously the results would be different.
Sushi
Originally, sushi was a method of preserving fish. First developed in Southeast Asia, it reached Japan during the eighth century. Over time, the dish slowly transformed: rice was no longer fermented but acetate and eaten together with fish, and during the nineteenth century, the sushi as we know it today was invented.
Pasta
Pasta is a crucial carbohydrate for those who want to lead a balanced diet, especially when consumed in its integral variant. Having a great satiating power, this is generally an incentive to eat less – as long as you do not exaggerate in quantity and seasonings (the ideal portion is 80 grams, to be seasoned with fresh tomato). Pasta also has vitamin B1, essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system
Eggs
From East to West, eggs are food ingredients of an almost unique versatility: they lend themselves to the oven for cakes and focaccias, in the kitchen they can form a quiche, omelettes, but also mix various pasta toppings, not to mention the countless possible recipes for breakfast.
Hamburger
The name comes from Hamburg, the city from which many German immigrants came before settling in New York. The hamburger is cooked in different variations, including vegetables, although originally it is a beef meatball tucked into a fresh toasted bun, along with onion, ketchup or mustard.
Pizza
In the United States alone, 350 slices of pizza are eaten per second. The flag of Italian cuisine is in fact among the most loved foods in the world. When prepared according to the traditional recipe, pizza is a perfect dish because it offers the right amount of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. By adding vegetables, you also ensure a certain amount of fiber.
Rice
Rice is certainly one of the most popular foods in the world and when compared to the rest of the cereals, it is also the most eaten. It has existed for a few millennia and has now become an essential part of the cuisine of any country – starting from Asia, passing through Europe, Africa and America. The high spread of rice has to do with its ease of cultivation: it is independent of the seasons, which removes the fear of a crop failure.
